Rachel meint danach, dass sie nicht gut sind und es lächerlich ist, das Solo in dem Song einem Jungen im Rollstuhl zu geben. Artie erwidert, dass Mr. Schuester auf Ironie setzt, um es interessanter zu gestalten, worauf Rachel entgegnet, dass Ironie in einem Showchor nichts zu suchen hat und stürmt aus dem Proberaum.
Der Song kommt noch einmal in der zweiundzwanzigsten Episode der dritten Staffel, Zukunft voraus, vor. Die Original-New Directions-Mitglieder performen ihn für die anderen, während sie von Will dabei beobachtet werden, der sich dabei an die Zeit zurück erinnert, als sie den Song zum ersten Mal performt haben. Santana meint hinterher, dass sie mehr Ghetto nie im Leben gesehen hat und Artie erwidert, dass das eben der "American Dream" ist, da sie "aus dem Ghetto direkt ins Penthouse" kommen, womit er ihren Sieg bei den Nationals meint.
